Ikemesit “Kem” A. Eyo is a partner at Reese-Beisbier & Associates (“RBA”), a Family law Firm. Kem has practiced family law in and around metro-Atlanta since 2008. In additional to the actual practice of law, Kem is a registered civil and family law mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, and has served as a Guardian ad Litem in contested custody dispute.
Kem began her legal career as a solo practitioner; however, after five years of working both the front and “back” of running a practice, decided to join a different family law firm. Kem joined RBA in March of 2020, immediately prior to the COVID19 lock down, and knew almost immediately that she had found her work “home”. At RBA, she found attorneys, paralegals, and administrative personnel who were like-minded in their desire to protect the needs of our clients and the professionalism in the practice.
Kem has represented clients in every county within the Atlanta Metropolitan area and a number of counties outside of the metro. She is a strong advocate for resolving matters by agreement when possible, but is a zealous advocate in the courtroom whenever a consensus cannot be reached. Kem is known in the community for her cordiality, knowledge, and honesty. In addition, Kem is a strong supporter of domestic violence victims – helping them obtain the protections that they need.
Kem has been a member of the Executive Committee for the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia since August 2021, and the editor of the Family Law Review (newsletter for the Family Law Section) since 2023. She is currently a member of the Family Law Section of the Bar, the Marion T. Pope, Jr. American Inn of Court, and the Forsyth County Bar Association. Kem has also been a presenter at various family law continuing legal education events. Finally, she has involved herself in, or been recognized by, Lawyers of Distinction – Family & Divorce, American Institute of Family Law Attorneys – 10 Best, National Academy of Family Law Attorneys – Top 10, The Global Directory of Who’s Who – Top Attorney, National Academy of Family Law Attorneys – Top 10 Under 40, Atlanta Bar Association, Cobb County Bar Association, Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, American Bar Association, National Bar Association, and Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Foundation, Inc.
When Kem is not working, her favorite pastime is spending time with her nephew, and three nieces, as well as with her mother, sisters, and brother-in-law. You can also occasionally find Kem on stage as part of the cast of musicals put on by the Atlanta Bard Show (musicals featuring lawyers and judges).
